Rona Bay Wharf renovation 2018
Friday 21 December 2018 saw the rededication and official opening of the Rona Bay Wharf in Eastbourne. Undertaken by Hutt City Council over the last 12 months the wharf has been completely rebuilt and is now a significant community and regional asset. While there has been work undertaken on the wharf in the past and most notably in 2002, this is the first time in 112 years that the wharf has been fully dismantled, piles repaired and the superstructure renewed. Divers worked in all weather conditions to repair the piles and timber from Point Howard wharf was reused in the project.
A well know local descendant of the Italian community, Phil Dellabarca continues his family traditions . . .
I've made good use of the Rona Wharf since 1994 - great backdrop for my portraits!
